Amsterdam Pre-Cruise Option
Itinerary
April 10, 2008- Depart the US from your home city for Amsterdam.
April 11, 2008-
Transfer via taxi from the Amsterdam Airport to our hotel, the Radisson SAS
(photo).
About the
hotel-
Located in the heart of Amsterdam, the Radisson SAS Hotel offers a unique
opportunity to experience the modern metropolis that has not lost its sense of history. Contemporary architecture brought together several 18th century
merchant houses, a former paper factory and a 19th century vicarage to create
this beautiful atrium hotel. The hotel is within walking distance of the main
tourist attractions. The rooms have recently been renovated. Guests have
access to the hotel's fully-equipped fitness facilities with sauna, solarium
and gym. The De Palmboom restaurant serves international classics with a Dutch
twist, while the Pastorie Bar, which used to be a 19th century vicarage, serves
a variety of drinks and snacks. Daily breakfast is included.
Today is your free time to relax
or start your Amsterdam exploration. This evening meet the group in the lobby
at 6:00 PM for an optional meet and greet. We realize that people have
differing energy levels and needs on their day of arrival so we are not making
any formal dinner plans.
April
12, 2008- After
breakfast meet one of our private local guides at 8:30 AM for a 4 hour tour. The group will
be divided into two smaller groups for a more personal tour. Start by taking a
typical street car to the Rijks Museum where your guide will show you
Rembrandts, Vermeers, and other
highlights of the most important museum of the Dutch Golden Age of the 17th
century.
Following the museum visit is a
walking tour of historical Amsterdam. Highlights include Dam Square, the
Beguinage, the Floating Flower Market, the Jewish Quarter, the Flea Market and
the Red Light District. The walk though scenic old Amsterdam is loaded with
future memories and photo opportunities. Your tour ends around 12:30 PM, just in time
for lunch. The remainder of the day is yours to enjoy Amsterdam on your own.
April 13, 2008-
