Hotel Weisses Kreuz Details-  This hotel is located on the main pedestrian street in the Old Town (Altstadt) of Innsbruck, an easy taxi ride or 15 minute walk from the train station.  Signs near the entrance tell you that Amadeus Mozart stayed here December 14th-19th, 1769.  You enter a door found under the arcades that line the street and then take the stairs or elevator to the lobby.  Typical of Tyrol, the hotel has pinewood furniture as well as paneled walls and ceilings.  An extra bonus are the various antique baby cribs that line many of the halls.  In all there are 26 rooms with private baths and about the same number without.  The "superior" rooms all offer private bath and either face the main street (with views of the Alps) or are on the top floor and feature skylights, wood beam ceilings or balconies to the rear of the building.  These superior rooms are quite spacious and offer a couch or table and chairs (some even have both).  The rooms themselves have simple white walls, pine wood furniture and non-descript carpet.  Armoires are used for closets and large TVs are in most rooms.  The rooms, however, do not have a safe and parking, available for a charge, is a 5 minute walk from the hotel.

Notes- Our favorite room for size is #400, a double that could accommodate up to 4 people.  For character though, we like 408 or 409.  Twin bedded rooms are available, otherwise the norm is a queen bed with comforters for each person.  The hotel's restaurant has several dinning rooms to accommodate various sized groups.  This ability to feed a bus is not a great sign about the food, which is not the best in town.

Quotes-  Hotel Weisses Kreuz has a fine selection of rooms in an excellent location with a charming staff.”  Steven Hurley, December 2002
