Details-  This hotel with 600 years of tradition as its foundation (1590) is located just off the main pedestrian street in the Old Town (Altstadt) of Innsbruck, an easy taxi ride or 15 minute walk from the train station.  Its reputation is really built on its restaurant which is the heart and soul of this perfectly sized hotel.  The kitchen combines old Tyrolian favorites with a modern sensibility and flawless presentation.  There is an outside terrace for dining in good weather, and private rooms for special affairs.  Typical of Tyrol, modern pinewood furniture is in the rooms and mixed dark woods and hunting themes grace the public spaces.  The 15 rooms all offer private bath with nice amenities.  The lovely shopping district surrounding the Golden Roof is right outside your door, and from first impression to last bite in the restaurant, this establishment aims to please. Parking, available for an additional charge, is a 5 minute walk from the hotel.

Notes- We love this sort of hotel.  Right in the thick of things, well kept up, small, friendly and with excellent food.  This is where we will return.

Quotes-  "I stayed at Gasthof Weisses Rossel in Innsbruck last week (late September, 2006) and would classify it as an incredible bargain. The rates were reasonable, and the rooms were excellent. My friends room had track lighting, a sofa and a small reading library; and my room had a sitting table, two comfortable chairs, and a view of the mountains that was to die for!   The location was right in old town, the staff was friendly, it was quiet at night, but right next door to some excellent bars and sidewalk cafes. I would recommend this hotel to anyone, and an currently looking for an excuse to return to Innsbruck so I can stay there again."  Jeff from Madison, WI  USA

“You can see the justifiable pride taken in the restaurant when the chef and his assistant, dressed in crisp white, greet regulars after their meals.  If you think that all Germanic food is heavy and greasy, just eat here.”  Roger Tinsman, December 2002
