Details- The Hotel Domus Balthasar is our favorite design-hotel in Prague! It is located in the Malá Strana area of Prague, only a few feet from the Charles Bridge. The building used to be a part of the archbishop's palace. The hotel is on a very busy street overrun by tourists, but it is just about the best location in all of Prague. A small entry hallway leads to the tiny but chic reception desk. From here, all eight rooms (including three suites) are reached by stairs to the three floors above. There is a small cafe that adjoins the check in desk and provides daily breakfast. During the day guests also receive a discount there. The only real fault we can find with this hotel is the lack of elevator and the non existent lobby, but if stairs are not a problem for you it is exactly the type of hidden place you'll love.

Notes- The rooms of this small hotel are a modern interior designer's dream come true. Old world touches contrast with sleek lines; when rough beamed ceilings are opposite newly refinished floors, and dark woods emphasize the neutral fabric colors. All rooms include CD, DVD, stereo and satellite TV (tucked behind frosted glass), direct personal phone numbers with answering machine, modem connection, minibar and safe. As if the rooms are not lovely enough, the bathrooms are a slice of European heaven including luxury fixtures, bathrobes and slippers. The hotel has a private driver who can pick you up at the train station or airport and can also provide private driving tours.
