Details- Hotel Domus Henrici is one of our favorites in Prague.  Located in the Hradcany area of Prague, it is close to the Prague Castle in a quiet neighborhood on the hill that is ideal for being out of the hustle and bustle of Prague.  It is only a short walk to the tram that takes you into the old town, or you might prefer the pleasant walk to the old town if you can handle an incline with some stairs.  The building dates back to the 14th Century and the name comes from one of the original owners, Domus Henrici, in 1381.  In the beginning of the 17th century the house was bought by His Excellency Emperor Rudolf II and together with the adjacent property it served as the Head office of the Imperial Court.  Today the small hotel has only 8 rooms with plans for an expansion, possibly in 2006.  There are outdoor large terraces where guests can relax in the summer months.

Notes- The rooms of this small hotel are quite spacious, almost as though you are renting a studio apartment.  There is a very home-away-from-home feel that is reinforced by the wood furniture, rocking chairs, CD player and stereo, candles, fresh fruit and valets.  Add to that fax and internet connection, minibar and safe deposit box, and you could stay forever.  The feel of the bathroom is similar with ample storage encouraging you to unpack your toiletries and slip into the bathrobes and slippers.  The hotel is not air conditioned, but the thick stone walls keep rooms insulated year round.  There is a beautiful breakfast buffet each morning in the breakfast room.  The staff is very warm and welcoming and freely offers little things like tram tickets, postage stamps and more.  The hotel has a private driver who can pick you up at the train station or airport and can also provide private driving tours.

Quotes-  "The rooms in this hotel are some of the most comfortable in Prague.  The quite location in the royal neighborhood is great - just take advantage of the terrific tram lines in Prague."  Steven Hurley, December 2004.
