Details- This
hotel is located inside the most charming Medieval village in Alsace, and
one of the more charming in all of France. This can mean mobs of
tourist during the day, but a real charmer for those who stay the night,
or visit during off season. All of the 19 rooms have Old World charm as does the
breakfast room. Half timbered walls and ceilings prevail throughout
the hotel and its rooms. Rooms 10, 11, 12 and 14 are on the upper
floor and have angled attic style ceilings just under the roof (11 and 12
are the better ones for light). Our favorites are rooms 2 and 7 in the higher
price range, because they are a bit larger and have a bay window.
Notes-
The
basement of the hotel or caveau is a cave like cellar that has been
converted to a weinstube / bar. The bright orange walls make it an
inviting and relaxing rooms. The smoke from the bar, however, can
make it
way up into the hotel and even into some of the rooms. Cars are not
allowed inside the town walls so you must park outside and walk in.
Public metered parking is 3 Euros per day or locked parking is 8 Euros per
day.
Quotes-
"When it comes to Old World charm, this is one of my favorite
places. " Steven Hurley,
March 2002.
