Details- This hotel is located on the Mont itself, which is a true treat if you are visiting this unusual location.  There are only a few hotels on the Mont and this is our pick for the best.  Keep in mind the real experience is staying on the Mont itself, not your room.  Exploring the Mont after the hoards of tourists leave is magical.  At high tide the tourists who are not staying on the Mont must leave because the parking lot is flooded.  The lobby of the hotel is mid-way up the Mont and is small and dark.  After check in you will probably never see it again since the rooms are located in several buildings further up the hill.  The halls of the hotel are filled with pictures of famous guests and posters from movies; a little tacky, but it adds to the unusual charm.  You have the option of bay views or village views.  You pay more, but a bay view room is a must because the unique nature of the tide, one of the fastest rising and lowering tides in the world.  The rooms are average in size and appearance, some have large non-working stone fireplaces.

Notes- When you arrive at the Mont you must park in the public pay lot.  After checking in you will be given a pass to enter the parking area for guests that are staying the night, safe from the rising tides and closest to the entrance.  The hotel is associated with another hotel on the Mont as well as a couple of restaurants and lounges.

Quotes-  "Fantastic view of the tide from our room.  Accommodations are small and slightly worn but you go to Mont St Michel for the view, not the room."  Linda T., Carmichael, CA, June 2003

"Sitting in our room and watching the tide rush into the bay and surround the Mont in a matter of minutes was an amazing experience."  Steven Hurley, October 2001.
