Details- The
hotel is located between Bayeux and the Normandy Beaches.
It is housed in an 18th century building on 15 acres.
The chateau was occupied by Germans and later the Allied troops during
World War II. It has been
thoroughly renovated to accommodate 22 bedrooms all with bath and TV.
There is a gourmet restaurant and bar featuring seafood and local produce
offering 4-6 course meals from $25 to $65, not including drinks.
The property has an indoor heated pool and exercise equipment.
The public rooms are large and include a solarium and billiards game
room. The hotel is closed from the
end of November until the beginning of March.
Notes-
Just
driving into the entrance of the chateau lets you know that this is an
exceptional property. You enter
through huge iron gates and approach the chateau along a tree-lined drive
passing beds of lavender and beautifully manicured lawn.
The interior is an elegant balance of beautiful architecture and a
modern sense of design. The owners
have paid close attention to every detail to make this one of our top picks for
a charming hotel. This is rated as
a four star property.
Quotes-
"We stumbled on this charming chateau by accident. We had one
of the finest dinners we have eaten anywhere in the world." Jim K.,
Kalamazoo, MI, September 2004
“Stunningly
beautiful, spacious gardens and lawns - defines the meaning of elegance in
dining and service." Jay T., Carmichael, CA, June 2003 "Lovely
large rooms with very modern bathrooms, wonderful grounds and public
areas." Lynda D., South San Francisco, CA, June 2003
