Details- This hotel has an excellent location in the Marais, perfect for walking to the Pompidou Centre, Hotel de Ville, Place des Voges and both islands. Restaurants, clubs and small shops abound, fueled in part by the vibrant gay scene of the Marais. The building was once the home of a famous playwright whose writings were later adapted into operas by Mozart. This same man helped the American colonists by providing financial support during the Revolution . Today the lobby of the hotel is a shrine to him, decorated in 18th Century French furniture including a piano forte. The 19 rooms vary in size with the larger and upper floor rooms costing the most. Breakfast is served in a small but charming room or, for the same cost, in your room.

Notes- The unique charm of the lobby is continued in the rooms including wood beamed ceilings and gilded mirrors. The larger rooms are worth the extra money, but the smaller rooms are an excellent value for Paris. Room amenities include a mini bar, cable TV and air conditioning. The bathrooms have nice fixtures but what caught our eye were the toiletries, embroidered floor mats and guest robes!
