Details- This hotel in a "mas", or large stone farmhouse, is located in a country setting in the heart of Provence, very near to St. Remy and Les Baux.  The hotel is surrounded by olive and cypress trees with the smell of lavender in the air.  The lobby has a large stone fireplace and intimate bar.  The walls are covered with old maps of France.  The 21 rooms are medium in size but are nice and light.  All the rooms have TV, mini bar and phone.  The hotel has a restaurant, only open in the evening, which serves typical Provencal foods.  In high season you can also order a small salad for lunch.  There is a large swimming pool just off the restaurant that also has a vine covered shade area.

Notes- Although the rate is higher, make sure you request a room with a balcony.  The balconies are small but offer a delightful country view.  For other dinning options, the town square of Maussane-les-Alpilles is only about a half mile away.  Also, please note that this hotel does not have air conditioning.  We would not recommend it if you are traveling in the hot summer months, particularly July and August.

Quotes-  "The location of this hotel makes seeing Provence very easy."  Steven Hurley, March 2002
