Details- This hotel is near St. Anna monastery.  Converted to a hotel in 1976 it offers guests luxury and quiet elegance, that is well worth the splurge.  A restaurant and delicatessen are on site.  The standard rooms, though a bit small, have all the same luxury details as the larger suites.  There is a beautiful inner courtyard and bar area that is absolutely perfect for a relaxing drink or meal.  Built in 1898, the house was originally a gourmet food store catering to the royal Bavarian court. There is even a small river "Eisbach", flowing below the house that was used to keep fish and lobsters fresh, before they were served at royal banquets!

Notes- This hotel is less convenient for walking, and almost twice as expensive as the majority of properties that we recommend, but it provides such an exceptional retreat from the hustle and bustle of the city, that we recommend it as a splurge.  This property is rated as 4 stars.

Quotes- “I felt that when I walked through the door I had entered another world.  It is just beautiful!"  Roger Tinsman, June 2002
