The Davanzati Hotel just opened in 2004 and is an excellent choice for your
stay in Florence. It sits in an excellent location in Florence. After a flight of stairs and an elevator ride, you
reach the large lobby which has nice wood pieces and murals of painted banners
on the
walls. Nearby is a lounge area where a complimentary happy hour drink and
snack is served every day. In the morning the lounge is used for breakfast
and there is also a free internet access area.
The 17 rooms are medium size and use armoires for closets. Each room has air conditioning, a safe, mini bar and internet hook up. Each room has a flat screen TV with a DVD player. For no charge you can use DVDs from the hotel's selection. The lighting in the rooms is very well done, which helps compensate for the lack of natural light in the hotel overall. Many of the rooms have nice old world touches such as exposed wood beams or stone walls. There are also a couple of suites which offer more space, including couches. The bathrooms are a bit compact but overall very nice and modern. An attempt has been made to combine an old world feel with 21st century touches.
What makes the place so special is Fabrizio, his family and staff! They all try very hard to make your stay enjoyable.
