Details- This hotel is located in the old town of Orta San Giulio, only a short stroll from the town square on the "undiscovered" Lake Orta.  We believe that the Italians have kept this charming town a secret so that they can enjoy its beauty without being overrun by American tourists.  The hotel lobby boasts a large coat of arms inlaid into the floor, a fireplace for cool winter days and vaulted frescoed ceilings.  At the rear of the building across what used to be a carriageway is a small breakfast room and an outdoor courtyard where breakfast is served in the summer months.

Notes-  A tiny lift brings you to the guest room floors.  The halls are narrow, meandering, and the timed light switches have an annoying habit of cutting out just before you reach your very charming room.  But once inside you are greeted by beautiful coordinating fabrics on the beds and windows.  Understated and elegant faux painted walls with beautiful hand lined detail work surround you and many of the rooms feature wood beam ceilings while some have an exposed stone wall.  There are two junior suites which offer seating areas, and a couple of the standard rooms offer a small interior balcony.  There are TVs in each room but English channels are not available.  There are a couple larger hotels that offer more amenities, but nothing approaching the small family run charm of this one.

Quotes- "This hotel is a small jewel set in the heart of a town not frequented by many American travelers."  Steven Hurley, March 2003
