Details- This hotel is located near the Piazza del Poplolo within a 5 minute walk of the subway and a 30 minute walk of almost every major sight in Rome including the Spanish Steps, Trevi Fountain, Pantheon, Coliseum, Roman Forum and Vatican.  This hotel opened in 1925 and has an art deco decor in the public areas.  It recently expanded from 48 to 70 rooms. The lobby is finished with wood and an antique elevator for two.  Drinks are served from the bar in a large lounge and the outdoor courtyard.  A large European breakfast is served in the lower level of the hotel, and may also be eaten in the courtyard.  The hotel offers bicycles free for guests to use.  Rooms can be modern or antique filled, small to medium, but every one is different and includes a mini bar, satellite television, and modern bathrooms.  One of the highlights of the hotel is the rooftop garden.  Parking is available if requested in advance.

Notes- The hotel now offers a delightful cold lunch buffet for 14 Euros that includes a salad bar, antipasti, pasta and a drink from the bar.  The air conditioning in the rooms is adequate for most weather conditions, but falls short during heat waves.

Quotes- “We stayed at this hotel in 1993, 2001 and 2002, our favorite feature is the rooftop garden.  We like to get a bottle of wine along with some Italian cheese, olives and bread and have a wonderful dinner looking over the roof tops of Rome, the eternal city.”  Steven Hurley and Roger Tinsman, June 2002

"Charming tiny elevator - small room was clean & certainly adequate - 1920's feel & unique common areas - very gracious feel"  Linda T., July 2002
