The charming Albergo Milano is owned and operated by a Swiss couple, Bettin and Egidio
Mallone who give it a personal atmosphere. This hotel offers 8 rooms right in the heart of Varenna on
beautiful Lake Como. The rooms are a bit small and basic, but are crisp
and charming. Each room has at least a small balcony and some rooms offer terrific views.
Two rooms just above the breakfast room have very large terraces facing the
lake. Rooms that have a limited view are offered at a slight discount. There is
a large patio on the ground floor where breakfast is served as well as an evening dinner. If
you are a family or a group of friends traveling together, the hotel also offers a very
reasonable apartment that has 2 bedrooms and a sofa bed in the living room.
Notes- The rooms do not have air conditioning or TV's, and can be a little noisy in high season, but they are clean and bright. The bathrooms are small with tiny showers that drain right into the floor. Hairdryers are available upon request. There is a large TV and internet access available in the lobby. The hotel can provide massage services and offers some very nice honeymoon packages. They can also arrange airport or train station pick up if you don't plan to have a car.
