The Travels with Friends' Philosophy
Travels with Friends’ philosophy is simple. We believe traveling in Europe is one of life's greatest pleasures IF you know how to enjoy it. Here’s how.....
Planning- Don't try to cram all of Europe into two weeks. Go with the idea that you’ll return in the future. Make your trip a regional exploration so you really get to know one of the many cultures in Europe.
Sights- If it’s your first trip, by all means see the top sights. But experience shows a truly memorable trip will include time to sit back, relax and enjoy the local scene.
Hotels- Avoid big chain hotels. Although you might have to forgo 24 hour room service, you will get a better glimpse into what it is like to be European staying in a small hotel or B&B.
Private Tours- You’re spending hard earned money to travel, so use a small amount more for a private guide who can unlock the doors to their city or region. It's like having family or a close friend in a place you've never been. Don't walk around with your nose in a guidebook.
Cruises and Tours- If you choose a European cruise, arrange private tours at each port so you can interact with a local and see sights at your own pace, away from the mob. Or consider a river cruise instead. They are limited to a couple hundred people or fewer and they overnight in the heart of some of Europe's best cities.
The Ugly American-
We travel to Europe to
experience another culture and take joy in the fact that things will
not be
exactly like they are at home.
