Sights in YorkYork offers as much history as almost any other town in England, dating back to Roman times when Hadrian stopped here on his way north. Today the city is surrounded by a 2.5 mile 13th – 14th Century wall. This medieval wall can be walked on for great photos of the city and its Minster, one of the great cathedrals of England. We recommend a minimum of two full days to see the major sights in York, three days would be even better. York is two hours from London via high speed train or 5 hours by car. Although a car is not needed in York, you will need one if you plan to visit the countryside or Hadrian’s wall, farther to the north. Top Sights in York
York
Minster- Considered one of the greatest cathedrals in the world, the present
building dates from the 13th Century. The highlight is the stained glass
windows, most of which were added in the 15th Century. For the strong at
heart, you can climb to the top of one of the 3 towers for wonderful views of
York’s rooftops and the surrounding countryside. Tours in York
